DAY 8
On February 19 (UK time), the study group visited the British Museum. Led by a guide, team members toured the British Library, Assyrian and Sumerian Civilizations Exhibition, Ancient Greek Gallery, and Ancient Egyptian Gallery. Students attentively listened to explanations, carefully observing each artifact, learning while appreciating ancient wisdom and artistry. The Chinese Gallery, as the final stop, left a lasting impression. The artifacts represented thousands of years of Chinese civilization, showcasing Chinese cultural charm to the world. Their displacement also made students deeply aware of the importance of national strength and cultural heritage preservation.
In the afternoon, Professor Zhang led the group to King's College London, meeting Dr. Zhou from the Physics Department. Dr. Zhou guided students through teaching areas, experiencing classrooms, seminar rooms, and libraries where students typically study. From the historic library to modern technology-equipped laboratories, each area demonstrated King's College's academic dedication. Students actively questioned Dr. Zhou about study abroad life and admission standards, receiving patient explanations from both Dr. Zhou and Professor Zhang.
DAY 9
On February 20, the group was warmly welcomed by Raymond from the International Office and Dr. Neri, Deputy Head of the Computer Science Department at the University of Surrey. They toured computer classrooms, electrical engineering laboratories, and lecture halls, experiencing regular student life firsthand.
Professor Surrey from the Signal Processing and Machine Learning program and AI researcher Wang Wenwu welcomed the JEI students. They introduced the Vision, Speech and Signal Processing Centre and demonstrated project outcomes in the intelligent robotics laboratory. As an outstanding alumnus, Wang Wenwu's presence particularly resonated with the students abroad. Students actively inquired about graduate program choices, receiving advice on popular research directions and career options.
Subsequently, Dr. Neri led students through Surrey's satellite research center and related laboratories, showcasing the zero-friction simulation platform, vibration simulation laboratory, and satellite signal reception center, broadening students' horizons. Students engaged in lively discussions and questioned laboratory professors enthusiastically.
DAY 10
On February 21 morning, team members departed from London Heathrow Airport with fond memories of Britain, officially concluding their UK study tour. The students safely returned to Beijing, marking the end of this enriching exchange program.
Reflections:
The greatest gain from this UK study tour was direct insight into British education. Teachers were passionate and patient, explaining everything from architectural cultural significance to library collections and advanced laboratory equipment, to diverse campus activities. This journey transformed theoretical knowledge into practical understanding, clarifying my future plans and teaching me to actively gather information for my goals.

The Surrey visit deepened my understanding of British higher education. The admissions officer's presentation revealed Surrey's specialty programs and academic strengths, while course experiences showed British teaching styles and academic atmosphere. This UK trip was incredibly rewarding, offering both professional knowledge and British cultural charm. Seeing students from various countries pursuing knowledge and experiencing teachers' educational passion has filled me with confidence and anticipation for my future.
