DAY 6

On February 17 (UK time), the study group visited University College London (UCL). Led by Zhang Chunxi, team members learned about UCL's historical background, educational programs, teaching methods, and student culture. The group toured the Wilkins Building, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Institute of Education, Faculty of Laws, and Faculty of Life Sciences, learning about notable achievements including alumnus Demis Hassabis's Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Students' firsthand experience deepened their understanding of UCL, with many adding it to their target institution list.

That afternoon, the group visited London's political and cultural center, touring Parliament Square, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben, gaining insights into London's social culture and local customs.

DAY 7

On February 18 (UK time), the group visited Imperial College London in the morning, guided by Li Tianhao, a PhD student in Civil Engineering. Li led students through the Faculty of Engineering, visiting research laboratories and teaching facilities.

Through Li's introduction, team members learned about Imperial's distinctive engineering teaching approaches and significant contributions to the field. The tour continued through the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences, and Business School. In the Medical School, students learned about penicillin's discovery; in Engineering, they saw invisibility cloak samples.

Students showed strong interest in Imperial College, with Li patiently answering questions about application procedures and encouraging applications.

In the afternoon, Zhang Chunxi led the group to the Maritime Museum, where marine engineering knowledge and various nations' maritime histories were explored through themed exhibitions.

Reflections

During our two days in London, I had the privilege of visiting UCL and Imperial College, gaining profound insights. UCL's campus architecture varies from historic college buildings to modern academic facilities, creating a journey between past and present that reflects deep academic heritage and cultural diversity. Imperial College displayed strong technological focus and innovation spirit, with modern laboratories and cutting-edge research achievements that demonstrated technology's power and limitless future possibilities. Both institutions deepened my understanding of academic pursuit and strengthened my learning objectives.

-- Li Yuxin

These two days in London at UCL and Imperial College were incredibly rewarding. Walking through UCL's campus, we saw students everywhere engaged in passionate discussions with books in hand, breathing in the thick academic atmosphere. Whether in lawn study groups or corridor discussions, the open and inclusive academic environment was evident. Imperial College was equally impressive with its modern campus architecture. Senior students' experience sharing helped solidify my future development direction.

-- Liu Chunjia

My experience at University College London and Imperial College London deeply moved me. At Imperial College, Dr. Li enthusiastically introduced us to the school's facilities and departments, allowing us to appreciate the academic charm of a top institution while sparking my strong interest in professional knowledge. Through interactions with senior students, I learned about Imperial College's application standards for engineering programs, which helped me clarify my study abroad plans.
