On the afternoon of November 27th, the Dream Painting Club of the Club Management Department, in collaboration with the Youth Volunteer Association, hosted a handcraft cultural exchange activity titled Lantern Affinity · Fortune Knot Art in room S508 of the South Building. The event was organized by club leaders Han Yuqing and Liu Ru, featuring three foreign teachers and 48 students from both the Joint Institute and the School of Future Technology.
The activity focused on creating paper-folded lanterns. As an important element of Chinese traditional culture, lanterns are commonly used in festivals and celebrations, symbolizing reunion and happiness. The event aimed to enhance students' hands-on abilities, promote Chinese traditional culture through practice, and further facilitate cultural exchange between Chinese and international faculty and students.
Before the activity, the organizers provided basic paper lantern folding training to volunteers, who then assisted in guiding both students and teachers during the event.
At the beginning, the organizers gave a bilingual introduction about the historical background and cultural significance of lanterns. The volunteers then guided participants into the practical operation phase. The art of paper folding captured everyone's attention, with both foreign teachers and students actively participating. Each step, from folding and pasting to decorating, tested the participants' patience and creativity.
Foreign teachers and students actively exchanged their cultural backgrounds and life experiences, with paper folding serving as a medium for cross-cultural communication. Through these interactions, both parties deepened their mutual understanding, and students broadened their international perspective.
The activity reached its climax as beautiful paper lanterns were completed. Students and foreign teachers posed with their works for photographs, which not only documented their achievements but also witnessed their deepening friendships.
This activity fully embodied the characteristics of the Joint Institute by combining traditional cultural promotion with international exchange. It not only allowed faculty and students to deeply appreciate the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture but also laid a foundation for students to showcase Chinese cultural features on the international stage. Through interactive cooperation, faculty and students explored and shared the essence of different cultures, enhancing cultural identity and friendship.
