On May 22nd, the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Southampton, Mark Smith, and Vice-President Andrew Atherton, along with their delegation, visited our university. They were welcomed in the VIP Meeting Room of the Main Building by Song Yingdong, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, and Yu Zhiwen, Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President. Both sides engaged in discussions and exchanges.
Song Yingdong reviewed the achievements in talent cultivation and academic exchanges between the two universities, expressing full recognition of the outcomes since the inception of the collaborative programs. He introduced the university's international development strategy, emphasizing the commitment to high-level international cooperation and exchanges. Song expressed hope for continued communication and dialogue in education and technology, exploring new paths for cultivating innovative international talent, and developing more open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial higher education cooperation models.
Mark Smith briefly introduced the international and engagement strategy of the University of Southampton and praised the Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute for its successful high-quality talent cultivation. Andrew Atherton expressed a desire to continue student-centered collaboration and further advance the partnership.
