Day 3
Exploring Frontier Technology, Building Deep Blue Dreams
On the morning of April 2nd at 9:00 AM, campers visited the BGI Life Sciences Research Institute in Sanya. Led by a guide, the campers toured the institute's PCR laboratory, learning about the functions and equipment of the sample reception area, reagent preparation room, specimen preparation room, PCR amplification room, and analysis room.
During the tour, the guide provided detailed explanations of each area's functions and equipment and shared scientific insights and practical applications of PCR technology, giving the campers a deeper understanding of gene testing technology. This visit not only broadened their knowledge but also sparked a strong interest in biosciences.
The campers then conducted a DNA extraction experiment. They meticulously learned the principles and methods of DNA extraction and successfully isolated pure DNA from samples through precise operations. Each step was filled with scientific rigor and the excitement of exploration, showcasing the endless charm of life sciences.
At the renowned Sanya tourist attraction Daxiao Dongtian, the international practice team immersed themselves in local customs and traditions. The Daxiao Dongtian Scenic Area, known for its unique natural landscape and rich cultural heritage, provided the team with an unforgettable experience. Members of the international team expressed that the trip not only enriched their knowledge but also allowed them to experience the depth of Chinese culture and the nation's prosperity.
At 2:00 PM, in the S0503, S0507, and S0508 conference rooms of the Innovation Learning Valley in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, the three project groups began their thematic discussions. Seated around round tables, the project members first received detailed project introductions from the guiding teachers, covering the project's background, goals, and expected outcomes. This gave the members a thorough understanding of the project content. Subsequently, members engaged in discussions, offering insights and suggestions on various aspects of the project, each contributing their expertise to the project's progress.
By 7:00 PM, the project group members had identified their directions and focus areas. They summarized their daily progress and presented their findings to fellow members and guiding teachers. They expressed that the discussions not only deepened their understanding of the projects but also taught them valuable lessons and knowledge. With collective effort, they are confident in successfully completing the projects and achieving excellent results.
