On April 4th, the JEI hosted a welcome event in Classroom S301 for four faculty members from the University of Southampton, UK: Stephen Pearson, Jennifer Van, Enrong Chang, and Aimee Zhang. The event was attended by the entire leadership of the Joint Institute, counselors from various grades, and several students.
The ceremony was hosted by student representative Chen Jiahao, who extended a warm welcome to the Southampton faculty, emphasizing the unique importance of experiencing diverse cultures to broaden students’ horizons. Following this, five students—Wang Yichen, Du Jiayi, Wang Zetong, Wen Yizhuo, and Chen Ziheng—showcased their talents, which were highly appreciated by the visiting teachers, highlighting the flair of the Joint Institute’s students and the warm reception from Chinese students. The event concluded with interactions and a group photo session with the visiting faculty.
This event was not merely a formal welcome ceremony but also a significant cultural exchange. It allowed the UK faculty to experience the enthusiasm of Chinese students and the distinctive charm of the Joint Institute, while deepening the entire faculty and students' understanding of the University of Southampton and its excellent teaching staff. We anticipate that future interactions will foster deeper cooperation and exchange between the two institutions.
