On February 17th, the 23rd UK-China Transnational Education Conference (TNE) of the China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education (CACIE) was held in Beijing. The conference theme was Focusing on Post-Pandemic Educational Cooperation, Partnerships, and Prospects. This specialized seminar was jointly organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange, the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in China, and the International Trade Department of the UK, with support from the Universities UK International. Representatives from Chinese and British educational administrative departments, institutions engaged in Sino-foreign cooperative education, and experts and scholars delivered keynote speeches.
Dean Duan Wenyang of our Joint Institute presented a keynote speech on Exploring New Models of Industry-Education-Research-Application Integration under the New Engineering Disciplines Initiative in Sino-British Cooperative Education. Other Chinese representative institutions at the seminar included the Southern University of Science and Technology and the Zhejiang University Edinburgh Institute.
During the conference, Dean Duan Wenyang discussed topics such as the new engineering disciplines and their integration with the Joint Institute, cooperative education models, educational practices, and the role of teaching in moral education. The discussion explored how universities from both countries can establish and maintain long-term and sustainable strategic partnership relationships. Notable exchanges during the conference also involved Lu Chun, Vice President of Southern University of Science and Technology, and Joana Westphal, Head of Transnational Education at the Universities UK International, discussing the organization and curriculum systems of the joint Institutes.
The Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute has always been dedicated to the global dissemination of scientific and technological advances, the promotion of international advanced concepts, and the development of Sino-British cultural exchanges. The Joint Institute will continue to develop its Sino-British cooperative education brand, promoting the development of Sino-British cooperative education and contributing to the enhancement of international talent training quality.
