On May 11th, Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute held the Conclusion Defense of the 2022 University-level Student Scientific Innovation Drilling Projects (Incubation Slot) in classrooms S508 and S603. The Conclusion Defense of the Scientific Innovation Drilling Projects was organized by Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department of Youth League Committee of the JEI. The associate advisors of each class, staff of the Student Administration Office of the JEI, entrepreneurship and innovation tutors and PhD candidates of the related directions acted as judge panel, and the undergraduates of Grade 2021 of the JEI participated in the defense.
The scientific innovation drilling projects were performed by teams. Each team submitted the proposals and essays, which were reviewed and instructed by the entrepreneurship and innovation tutors. During the defense, each team presented the background of the project, and demonstrated the profile, advantages and scenarios of the project. The judges commented on creativity, advancement and feasibility of each project and gave advices on further research directions.
The Conclusion Defense was committed to encourage students to actively participate in science and innovation activities following R&D process. In the progress, innovative ideas were inspired, and R&D capabilities are enhanced, which prepared the students for future academic careers.
