On May 6th, the results of the 2022 American College Mathematical Contest In Modeling (MCM/ICM) were officially announced. 376 teams from HEU successfully participated and 94 teams won prizes, including 11 Finalist (F Prize), 12 Meritorious Winner (M Prize) and 71 Honorable Mention (H Prize).
The JEI teams contributed its debut in MCM/ICM and obtained excellent results. Zicheng Wang from Automation won Finalist prize, which amounted only 2.51% of the awards. Yukun Chen from Underwater Acoustic Engineering, Yuanju Cao from Underwater Acoustic Engineering, and Yantong Wei from Automation won three international Meritorious Winner prizes, and the JEI teams also won ten Honorable Winner prizes.
It is reported that the Contest attracted 27,205 teams from all over the world, including Cambridge University, Peking University, Tsinghua University and many other top universities at home and abroad, which made the competition extremely fierce. More than seventy students fromthe JEI participated into the competition. Based on the knolwedge acquired from the modules, the JEI contestants designed mathematical models through teamwork to explore solutions, and contributed with high-quality papers in English .
The JEI is exploring innovative ways to cultivate talents, and encourages students to participate in various science and innovation activities. Over the past year, the participation rate of students in innovation and entrepreneurship projects/contests reached 100%. The JEI students won 116 awards including 22 national level awards,e.g. the 17th Challenge Cup National Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition and 11 provincial level awards, e.g. the Heilongjiang Internet + Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
