On November 17th, the 9th “Hi Dream” Forum was held in the panoramic teaching space in 21B building by the Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute. Prof. Cai Li and Prof. Liu Jiu, from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, were invited to deliver lectures. All students from grade 20 of the JEI attended the forum. The two teachers gave presentations separately on psychology and the science of law applied to the operation of engineering organizations, which were helpful for engineering students in management, decision-making, and leadership in the real world.
In the first session of the forum, the two professors were awarded with the Honorary Tutor Certificates of the JEI. In the following, Prof. Cai Li analyzed the psychological and behavioral characteristics under the epidemic with the cases of the JEI students, and gave brief training on mental health care. Prof. Liu Jiu presented on international law, and the international law of the sea. Prof. Liu Jiu also shared her stories in disseminating legal knowledges.
During the lectures, the students and teachers demonstrated passion in discussion and brainstorming. The presentation on mental health care contributed to awareness of the magnitude of maintaining mental health. The presentation of international law enabled the students to have a certain comprehension of today's global order and a new perspective on the development pattern of global integration.
