On May 4th, the theme forum of Beijing Olympics Winter Games was held online bythe Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute. Professor Liang Hong from the College of Foreign Languages was invited to deliver a speech. All students from grade 20 and 21 of the JEI attended the forum.
Liang Hong shared her feelings and experiences as the domestic technical officer and assistant chief of halfpipe competition for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Whether the world's first driverless fuxing high-speed railway, or the world's first Ice ribbon for the Winter Olympics using carbon dioxide transcritical direct evaporative refrigeration technology, ice Cube, Snow Ruyi, glass slippers, snow Dragon andthe other Winter Olympics venues,all made the world complimented China's attitude towards the Winter Olympics and the strength of China. Liang Hong also shared her personal understanding of the spirit of Winter Olympics -- to be ambitious, confident and open, to venture the challenge, to pursue excellence towards a better future.
LiangHong's ice and snow journey was not accomplished overnight. Except for strong love of ice and snow sports, excellent English skills are also essential. In the beginning, Liang Hong worked as a translator, but she gradually realized that there was a limit to what she could do. Therefore, she started to work harder by learning professional knowledge and improving her English qualification, which eventually led to her success today.
